Book Description:

Nora Montgomery left home and heartbreak behind in South Carolina when she moved to New York City after her high school graduation. Now, four years later, she returns home and is forced to confront the past she left behind and the reckless boy who broke her heart.  It’s not long before the pieces of her past begin to blur with the present and she realizes that the feelings she had for her first love never really went away. As old dreams resurface and new truths come to light, she begins to question the future she’s always planned on.

Jake Harris has spent four years regretting the night he let her get away. When she finally reappears in his life, he is determined to win her back and prove how much he’s changed. She might never forgive him for that night, but if he tells her the truth about what really happened it will shatter the world she thought she knew.  If he doesn’t, he might not get a second chance. He’s already lost her once and he won’t lose her again.

They come from two different worlds that are threatening to tear them apart…can they make it this time around?

Nora and Jake have such a great chemistry in high school that it appears that they are untouchable.  Than the ultimate happens and Nora is left alone feeling abandoned by Jake after he disappears from her life one fateful evening.  She leaves for New York, and Jake is constantly on her mind.  She especially has to deal with him after she returns to her hometown for her best friends wedding.  Nora sees Jake and she knows that she still feels for him.  The fireworks are still there, but there is so much hurt that he caused her that it may be the one thing that keeps them apart.

Will Jake tell her why he left?  Can Nora forgive?  Can Nora learn to stand on her own two feet?  Read This Time Around and find out.

I really enjoyed how the character developed in Nora and in Jake.  Jake seemed like one type of person, when he really was someone different.  Nora is a loving person, but she has some character faults that may define the relationship between her and Jake.  I felt like I could connect to Nora and her personality.

This is an excellent book that I would suggest to readers out there.  There are a few adult moments, so I would suggest to those 17 or over.

Twinsequences (5 Stars) byJennifer Foor Blog Tour

I’d shared everything with Ivy since we were born. She was my exact double. We were only two minutes apart. I never thought that my own twin sister would steal away my one chance at happiness, but that is exactly what she’d done. She didn’t even know that I was in love with him. How could she? Ivy was too busy being Miss Popular to notice what I wanted. After having my heart broken, I’d decided to leave my town, and my sister, to go to college out of state. For the past four years, I’d done nothing but work to make a life for myself. We were still the best of friends, but going home was too hard for me to face and I hadn’t been back since they’d gotten married.I wanted my sister to be happy, even if it meant I never would be. She didn’t have the brains, or the successful future that I knew was coming to me.
But, she’d always have the one thing I wanted.
The one thing, I could never have.
Stoshua Wheeler.

A late night phone call brought me back to town. I should have never considered her request. It wasn’t right to pretend to be her, but she said she was in trouble. I had to help her.

I’d dreamed of being her for five years. I envied their relationship. I wanted her life.

What was I willing to risk to take it for myself?

I’m Willow Green and this is my story.

Wow!!!  This story is like a puzzle needing to be put together.  It was full of action, steamy scenes, mystery, and a love to was bound to be reunited.  The problem lies with one of two twines (Ivy and Willow).  Ivy she was a witch (with a capital B) on wheels.  She was a nutcase and I was exhausted just trying to follow her.  Willow, on the other hand, was a very respectable girl that worked very hard to get to where she was.
The biggest reason that I rated this book so high was that it was full of twists that I never knew what was going to happen next.  I am floored by how well this was written.  There was never a dull moment.  In fact today I am going to reread it.  For the third time.
Jennifer, you never seem to stop amazing me.  I have read other works of yours and Twinsequences is by far rated as high as your other books.  So my fellow readers.  Read Twinsequences and when you are finished with that one, read more of her works.  You will not be disappointed.

My sister was asleep and strapped to her bed. I think I actually smiled when I saw her like that. She looked so peaceful, and in that position, she couldn’t hurt anyone.

There was never a doubt that I was going to go through with the plan. Taking her down was the objective, and no matter what I had to go through, it was going to happen.

Stosh stood back and let me approach the bed. He shouldn’t have been so trusting because without even thinking, I slapped her right in the face.

Her eyes shot open and she tried to sit up, but realized she was strapped down. When she tried to scream, I put my hand over her mouth, so nobody could hear. Stosh pulled out the prescription bottle of sleeping pills and we shoved a few down her throat, forcing her to swallow them. I forced a washrag in her mouth, to prevent her from spitting and making a sound.

Once we knew the pills had dissolved, we had to sit there for a good thirty minutes before they started working. While waiting, she desperately tried to free herself several times. I loved seeing her suffer and watching her realize that her plans to destroy me had gone very wrong. It was almost better than sex to see her scared. This was the pivotal moment when that little bitch realized her fate.

Since Stosh and I had a long drive, we had plenty of time to get our plans in order. We were going to set off the fire alarm, giving us enough time to make the switch. He hugged me and kissed me on the forehead while my sister watched with wide eyes.

“You ready for this?”

I looked right at her. “Nothing is going to stop me from being with you, Stoshua. Never again!”

Tears filled her eyes and I knew I’d hit a nerve. I’d finally discovered what it felt like and why she craved it. I felt like I was on top of the world. Revenge was evil and it felt so good.

When her eyes started getting heavy, I leaned over close to her ear. “Did you think you’d win him back by pulling this stunt? You really think I was just going to let you win?” I ran my fingers over her lips. “My lips are the only ones he’s ever going to kiss. It will be me he comes home to everyday. We’re going to be so happy.” I stood up straight at looked at Stosh. “Paybacks are a real bitch, sis. You always said I was the smart one. You never should have messed with someone that could take you down a million times over. I considered lots of ways, but this one will hurt you the most.”

Stosh cleared his throat. “I could never hate anyone the way I hate you, Ivy. I never loved anyone like I loved Willow. You’ll never be her. I played you, like you tried to play me. You led me right to her. So, thanks for that!” He patted her on the leg and winked at me.

I felt chills realizing that he was utterly and completely mine.

Crashing The Congressman’s Wedding by Elley Arden Blog Tour and Giveaway

Contemporary Romance
Date Published: 7/15/2013

Alice Cramer is tired of being pitied for her family’s transgressions, so she resolves to break out of the gutter and into the spotlight. As long as her local congressman can forget about their checkered past and help her secure a federal grant to open Harmony Falls Little Theatre, she’ll be the brightest star in town. But when Alice stands up in church and stops the congressman’s wedding, she dives headfirst into fresh scandal.

Why is Harmony Fall’s golden boy, Justin Mitchell, speeding down the interstate sans a new wife but with the local drama queen he’s been trying his whole life to avoid? Alice Cramer may have saved him the hassle of an arranged marriage to a woman he didn’t love, but she’s put a business transaction big enough to save an entire town in jeopardy–not to mention his reputation.

Soon Alice and Justin are dredging up and indulging in an attraction that threatens all their dreams and aspirations. But what if life together is the dream that matters most?

I enjoyed reading Crashing The Congressman’s Wedding.  At first I didn’t really comprehend the main character’s, Alice and Justin, but the more I read the more they made sense to me.

Alice loves Justin.  She has loved him for a long time.  Unfortunately her family doesn’t have the “correct” ties to the town, and Justin (the local congressman) seems to see her as a hindrance.  So what does Alice do, she stands up in the middle of Justin’s huge wedding and proclaims that the bride is a cheat.  At first I thought she was a little bit out there, but I could see that she really saw that Justin was unhappy at marrying a two-timer.  And boy does the adventure start when Justin picks up Alice and they run off to the ocean.

The part of Alice’s personality that I loved was that she did not hold back on saying to Justin that she did not like to see this “new” Justin.  Alice also has a soft spot, she doesn’t want to get hurt so she banters at Justin and he gets so riled up.  I actually laughed at them.

Crashing The Congressman’s Wedding contains twists and turns and wow did it keep me on my toes the entire book.  I did like that it was not a heavy depressing book.  It was two people living separate lives each looking for their HEA.  Read it to find out if they can pull it off.

Author Bio

Elley Arden is a born and bred Pennsylvanian who has lived as far west as Utah and as far north as Wisconsin. She drinks wine like it’s water (a slight exaggeration), prefers a night at the ballpark to a night on the town, and believes almond English toffee is the key to happiness.

Elley has been reading romance novels since she was a sixteen-year-old babysitter, sneaking Judith McNaught and Danielle Steele novels off the bookshelves of the women who employed her. She started her first manuscript when she was twenty-five, writing during babies’ naps. A total of three children and ten years later, the manuscript was complete. Little did she know, her journey to publication was only beginning…

Elley writes provocative contemporary romances for Crimson Romance.

Alice jumped a wave, and Justin was assaulted by a flash of creamy skin and black lace. She was swimming in her underwear. Catching sight of a pile of clothes out of water’s reach, Justin shook his head. Apparently, she had ditched her dress. Why was he not surprised?

“What are you doing?” he called above the surf.

She flashed him a smile he hadn’t seen in years. “I’ve never been to the ocean.”

His untucked shirt tails whipped in the wind, and with the strength of his hands he fought the chaos. “I guess that explains it.”

She stayed smiling, considering him with the same hypnotic eyes he knew as a child. Back then, he wondered what she saw when she looked at him. Now, he was afraid to know the answer.

“I’m going to get the bags and the dog out of the car, and then I’ll bring you a towel. Be careful. No further. You hear? In fact, stay closer to the beach. The undertow is strong, and I’d like to avoid another rescue.”

A few steps up the beach and her wail hit his back. “I don’t need to be rescued.”

But she did. Somebody had to keep her from making rash decisions, like stopping weddings and swimming in the ocean half-dressed. He slowed his pace and closed his eyes. That someone couldn’t—shouldn’t—be him. On an inhale, he opened his eyes and returned to the surf. “Fine. No more rescues.”

“Good, because I’m not a baby. I can take care of myself. Stop telling me what to do. Stop treating me like you’re my father or my brother. You’re not. You’re just a guy. I’m just a girl. And you make life too complicated.” She raised her arms to her side and fell backwards into the sea.

Justin’s heartbeat quickened as he searched the choppy water, waiting for her to surface. Her father died an alcoholic and her brother looked destined to follow. Not being lumped in their category was a good thing, but where did that leave him?

Relief flooded him when her head broke the surface. She pushed soggy curls from her face, and raising her arms over head, spun until a wave knocked her off her feet. She was definitely not a baby. But if he was just a guy and she was just a girl, then bringing her with him was an even bigger risk. He had obligations, expectations and an image to uphold. In trying to avoid a scene at the church, he’d put himself in one hell of a compromising situation.

After overcoming a difficult childhood, Taryn Ross has a fairy tale life – her father is a Senator contemplating a run for President, her mother loves to take her shopping for ridiculously expensive clothes, and she is finishing up her junior year at NYU.

What she doesn’t have is love – the heart pounding, mind blowing, passion filled love that she reads about in her collection of steamy romance novels.  But that might change when she accepts a cup of coffee from a sexy mysterious stranger.

Wyatt Hunter has experienced a loss that has him living each day just going through the motions.  His world is in dull shades of gray – until the day he meets Taryn.  She brings vibrant brilliant color back into his life, and he can’t stand the thought of going on without her.

But Wyatt is holding a secret that could send Taryn running when she finds out.

**This book contains adult situations and explicit content.  Recommended for readers ages 18 and older.**

Safe With You is the first of a series of book called the First & Last Series.  It is a story of a young woman venturing out into her own, and finds someone that she is attracted to.  The problem lays in that the fact that, whom she calls Hot Coffee Guy, has a secret that he doesn’t divulge to her in the beginning.  We know what secrets do to people.

Taryn and Wyatt (the main focal characters’ in the story) have a chemistry that I really enjoyed reading about.  They connect in a way that I have not seen in quite a while.  I feel their chemistry down to every level possibly.  Above all, they are great for each other.

Kirsten’s debut novel rocks the writing world when she wrote Safe With You.  That is what Taryn needs is to feel safe, loved and above all someone to reciprocate deep feelings she is known to have.  She is a beautiful person, inside and out.  You will definitely love Taryn and Wyatt’s story.

As teenagers, Lindsay and Grady found a love together that few people are lucky enough to ever experience.

When Lindsay Ross decided to visit her aunt for the summer in a small lake town in New York, she didn’t expect anything other than an escape from her demanding parents.  She certainly didn’t expect Grady Hawke.  At the end of the summer, Lindsay and Grady made plans for their future and vowed to be together forever.  Back in New York City, events beyond her control forced Lindsay to turn her back on Grady and their love.

Grady has spent the last five years trying to forget the one girl who broke his heart.  But when Lindsay arrives back in town unannounced, will Grady get to know the woman she has become and find out the real reason she left him all those years ago?  Or will he push her away for good?

**This book is recommended for a mature audience, age 18 and older, due to language and explicit content.

Just One Reason is Lindsay’s story.  Lindsay returns to live with her aunt after having a fall out with her parents.  What she doesn’t anticipate (or maybe denies) is the strong feelings of resentment that her former beau, Grady, has for her.  He doesn’t understand why she abruptly broke up with him five years before.  So, while she returns Grady acts like a total creep towards her.  She sees him taking a blonde bimbo out of a bar toward a night of passion, and wow did I feel the hurt for her.  The problem lies in that Lindsay has a secret.  A secret that would rock Grady’s world.  It is the reason that she had to break up with him all those years ago.  Can Lindsay open herself to Grady and share her story, or will their once pure love remain lost forever?

Just One Reason is heartwarming, yet is wrenched my soul on the pain that Lindsay had to endure.  I always heard that secrets kill and watching Lindsay I know that to be a fact.  Lindsay’s secret was literally killing her very existence down to how she lived her life.  She couldn’t have a serious relationship, and I understood why.  I read this story twice, and let me tell you there were times I wanted to stop because my heart was breaking, but I had a desire to find out what Lindsay was hiding.  Even if I was spent emotionally, I couldn’t put aside the story.  I craved it, desiring the soak up every emotion that encompassed Lindsay’s and Grady’s psyche.

This is one story that I would recommend to be placed on your TBR list.  Please know that this is recommended for mature readers.  I can’t wait to see more of Kirsten’s work.  She is an author that is truly blossoming. What a talent she has to share with us lucky readers.

Thanks Kirsten!!!

Kirsten DeMuzio lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband, two young daughters and happy golden retriever.  After working for several years as an accountant and dreaming up story ideas while inputting data into a spreadsheet, Kirsten finally decided to actually write one.  Four months later she self-published her debut novel, Safe With You.  There are several more books planned in this series.

Upcoming Books

These are all books that spin off from Taryn & Wyatt’s story along with a Taryn & Wyatt #2.  The reason Taryn & Wyatt #2 is farther out in the lineup is because of the storylines.  I want to have their book set closer to the election, and a lot happens with the other characters during the time gap.  Also, the characters do make appearances in other books, so Taryn & Wyatt are in Lindsay’s book and so on.

July 2013 – Just One Reason(Lindsay)

December 2013 – Ford (character from Lindsay’s story)

April 2014 – Lincoln (Taryn’s brother)

August 2014 – Taryn & Wyatt #2

December 2014 – Dominic

Author Interview:

Kirsten, I am really excited that you have allowed me the chance to interview you as well.  Your debut novel, Safe With You, was extremely enjoyable and hearing about Taryn and Wyatt’s story brought me to request an interview with the you.  I know readers will enjoy getting to know more about you, Kirsten, as an author.

1.)    What brought about your choice to write, Safe With You?  Did you always have a dream to write?  It was December 2012 when I decided to try writing a book.  I was off work for two weeks after surgery, and I read a ton of books on my Nook.  Several of them were by authors who self-published.  Before this I had no idea you could do such a thing.  After researching it, I decided to try it as well.  I am always daydreaming, and I finally found a way to organize my thoughts and start writing.

2.)    What do you enjoy doing in your leisure time?  When I am not working or writing, I enjoy spending time with my family (husband, two daughters, one dog) and reading.  My guilty pleasures are getting my nails done and napping (on very rare occasions).

3.)    We know you are great at writing, but what are your other hobbies?  My number one hobby is reading, and now that I am an author I can consider this research, right?  J  My busy life doesn’t allow much time for other hobbies, but someday I hope to have more time to devote to gardening and cooking.

4.)    When you wrote, Safe With You, how did you get into your writing zone?  For example, did you listen to music or was there another way that you used to keep motivated while writing?  Because I am just starting out as an author, I still work full-time at my “day job”.  Combined with having two children, this doesn’t leave much time for writing.  So, when I find time to sit down to write, I have to be very productive.  While going about my daily life – working, grocery shopping, driving my children to activities – I think about my story.  I play out scenes in my mind like I’m watching a movie, so that when I do sit down to write, I am ready to put those scenes into the book.

5.)    How did you develop the characters, Taryn and Wyatt and their story?  Taryn and Wyatt changed quite a bit during the early days of writing Safe With You.  I had a lot of ideas when I first started writing, and it took a while to fine tune the characters.  The setting, Wyatt’s job, the plot details, even Wyatt’s name changed from what I originally started with.  I just started writing a few scenes, not knowing if or how they would fit into the story, and just kept rewriting until I started to see in my mind how their story would play out.  One of the first scenes I wrote didn’t make it into the final version, but I plan to rework it into my third book – it will fit much better into that story.  Also, Wyatt’s last name was originally Tucker.  Then, while writing Safe With You, I read Existence by Abbi Glines.  One of the characters is named Wyatt Tucker.  So, I changed his last name to Hunter.  Really I was all over the place writing Safe With You, but I’m happy with how it eventually turned out.

6.)    What is your writing routine?  I have refined my routine a bit since writing Safe With You.  Now, I start with the two main characters and a general idea of the plot and struggles they will face.  I may have two or three key scenes in my head, and then I fill in around that.  I find that if I give it time and think about the characters, ideas will pop into my mind.  From there I can write a general outline and breakdown of what will happen in each chapter.  I wrote Safe With You completely out of order, and I broke it into chapters later.  With Lindsay’s story, I had an outline of each chapter, but I didn’t necessarily write them in order.  Now that I am working on my third book, I am attempting to write in order from the beginning.  We’ll see how that goes.  J

7.)    What is your favorite part of writing?  My favorite part of writing is coming up with the storyline and writing the first draft.  I also love choosing names for my main characters.  My supporting characters’ names are fairly easy, but I spend a lot of time researching names for my hero and heroine.  It’s kind of like picking out baby names – very exciting!

8.)    What writers inspire you?  Authors that began their careers by self-publishing are inspirations to me – Jamie McGuire, Colleen Hoover, Abbi Glines and SC Stephens top my list.  Thoughtless by SC Stephens is one of my all time favorite books.  She did a tremendous job capturing the emotions of the characters.  After reading that book, I had to take a break from reading for a while just to give my mind and emotions a rest.

9.)    What is the hardest thing about writing?  The hardest thing for me is finding the time to write.  I want to write all the time, but I have a lot of other things that usually take priority.  Also, going back through the story and editing is hard for me.  By that point, I am ready to be done with that book and move onto the next one, which is probably already rolling around in my mind.

10.)  Can you tell us a little about Lindsay’s story?  You saw a few hints into Lindsay’s story at the end of Safe With You.  Lindsay is more dramatic than Taryn, and she has some secrets from her past that even Taryn doesn’t know.  In Just One Reason, you will find out how Lindsay and Grady know each other as well as a look back at their past.  Grady once saw a future with Lindsay, but they can’t get there if he doesn’t find out the secret she is holding.

11.)  Can you give us a 140 TWEET description of your next book?  Lindsay and Grady have a past.  But will the secret Lindsay is keeping prevent them from having a future together?

12.)  Can you give your readers a hint on what is in store in Taryn and Wyatt’s future?  Taryn and Wyatt both make appearances in Just One Reason as well as the third and fourth books in the series – Ford (you will meet him in Just One Reason) and Lincoln (Taryn’s brother).  To wrap up this series I plan to write another book for Taryn and Wyatt, possibly in Wyatt’s POV, that takes place during the months leading up to the election.  Expect to see Wyatt dealing with issues from his past as well as new issues that arise in their relationship.  But don’t worry – Taryn and Wyatt will get their ultimate happy ending.  J

13.)  Can you give your readers what a day in the life of Kirsten is like?  For example, hobbies that you may have?  A normal weekday for me involves working from 8:00-4:30, dinner with the family, getting the kids bathed and into bed, spending two hours writing, going to bed and reading for a bit before going to sleep.  Get up in the morning and repeat.  On the weekends, I spend more time with my family and usually sneak in a little more time to write as well.

**New Adult Contemporary Romance. Due to language & sexual content, this book is recommended for readers 17 & older**

Love Love was a enjoyable book that had me reeling with a variety of emotions.  It dealt with love, loss, and a second chance of having a happy new life.

Gabby leaves California with losses that have her facing life in darkness.  One day her life totally turns around when she meets two hotties, Brad and Dane.  Both men offer her two different ideas on what the world should be.  But who is the one that can bring her out of darkness into the light?  Who is the one that is the most worthy of a soul seeking strength?

Love Love was such a great read.  There is adult matter in there that I would suggest it to mature readers over 18.  I loved how the characters were defined, and how different the chemistry was between Gabby and both men.  Gabby has to learn to let go and move on.  Can she?  Read Love Love and find out.

Riversong Cover_New

Title: Riversong (4.5 Star)

Author: Tess Thompson

Publish Date: April 12, 2013

With a help of a friend, Lee leaves a life in Seattle, Washington full of danger and grief.  Her husband has completed the ultimate betrayal by committing suicide.  The betrayal is that he commits suicide to leave her with a debt as much as a house to a very dangerous man.  She finds out she is pregnant soon after his death and decides that leaving town is the best thing to do.  So she runs home to the town that she grew up in.  River Valley.  She is scared and feels alone because she thinks that she can’t share her danger with any of her new friends, even her new beau, Tommy.  Tommy knows something is up.  Can he break her shell so she will spill or is it too late for Lee to have a second chance of true love?

The best part of the book that I enjoyed was watching a town pull together for their own people.  It was a heart warming story that includes both mystery and romance.

Game On(A 5 Star Book) by Wylie Snow Book Review

Title: Game On (5 Star)

Author: Wylie Snow

Published:May 19, 2013

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Game On is a book with food, sports (ice hockey my favorite), and a lot of romance.  This is all of my favorite items.  Wylie Snow does an excellent job of composing a book that keeps you on your toes, has hilarious moments, and allows you as the reader to keep focused on the issues at hand.

Clara, who is a restaurant reviewer,  lives in the UK and visits America when her boss reveals that an american company is merging some of their office.  There she meets Luc (he is a sports writer – former hockey player) and they have immediate attraction, but their one night falls apart when miscommunication happens and Luc leaves Clara believing she did not want him to join her for their little affair. Clara believes that Luc did not want the affair as well.  Little do they know that the next morning they are brought together again with the magazine’s main boss, and they find out that they will be working together.

The problem with working together is that they both have secrets that could damage their job, and if they don’t start being honest with each other, it could damage a possible relationship.  Can Clara learn to trust Luc?  Will Luc let Clara in?

This is a great story and I would suggest to anyone who wants to live a little and love a lot.
