Title: Safe With You (5 Star Book)
Date Published: April 27, 2013
After overcoming a difficult childhood, Taryn Ross has a fairy tale life – her father is a Senator contemplating a run for President, her mother loves to take her shopping for ridiculously expensive clothes, and she is finishing up her junior year at NYU.
What she doesn’t have is love – the heart pounding, mind blowing, passion filled love that she reads about in her collection of steamy romance novels. But that might change when she accepts a cup of coffee from a sexy mysterious stranger.
Wyatt Hunter has experienced a loss that has him living each day just going through the motions. His world is in dull shades of gray – until the day he meets Taryn. She brings vibrant brilliant color back into his life, and he can’t stand the thought of going on without her.
But Wyatt is holding a secret that could send Taryn running when she finds out.
**This book contains adult situations and explicit content. Recommended for readers ages 18 and older.**
Safe With You is the first of a series of book called the First & Last Series. It is a story of a young woman venturing out into her own, and finds someone that she is attracted to. The problem lays in that the fact that, whom she calls Hot Coffee Guy, has a secret that he doesn’t divulge to her in the beginning. We know what secrets do to people.
Taryn and Wyatt (the main focal characters’ in the story) have a chemistry that I really enjoyed reading about. They connect in a way that I have not seen in quite a while. I feel their chemistry down to every level possibly. Above all, they are great for each other.
Kirsten’s debut novel rocks the writing world when she wrote Safe With You. That is what Taryn needs is to feel safe, loved and above all someone to reciprocate deep feelings she is known to have. She is a beautiful person, inside and out. You will definitely love Taryn and Wyatt’s story.

Title: Just One Reason (5 Star)
Publish Date: July 18, 2013
As teenagers, Lindsay and Grady found a love together that few people are lucky enough to ever experience.
When Lindsay Ross decided to visit her aunt for the summer in a small lake town in New York, she didn’t expect anything other than an escape from her demanding parents. She certainly didn’t expect Grady Hawke. At the end of the summer, Lindsay and Grady made plans for their future and vowed to be together forever. Back in New York City, events beyond her control forced Lindsay to turn her back on Grady and their love.
Grady has spent the last five years trying to forget the one girl who broke his heart. But when Lindsay arrives back in town unannounced, will Grady get to know the woman she has become and find out the real reason she left him all those years ago? Or will he push her away for good?
**This book is recommended for a mature audience, age 18 and older, due to language and explicit content.
Just One Reason is Lindsay’s story. Lindsay returns to live with her aunt after having a fall out with her parents. What she doesn’t anticipate (or maybe denies) is the strong feelings of resentment that her former beau, Grady, has for her. He doesn’t understand why she abruptly broke up with him five years before. So, while she returns Grady acts like a total creep towards her. She sees him taking a blonde bimbo out of a bar toward a night of passion, and wow did I feel the hurt for her. The problem lies in that Lindsay has a secret. A secret that would rock Grady’s world. It is the reason that she had to break up with him all those years ago. Can Lindsay open herself to Grady and share her story, or will their once pure love remain lost forever?
Just One Reason is heartwarming, yet is wrenched my soul on the pain that Lindsay had to endure. I always heard that secrets kill and watching Lindsay I know that to be a fact. Lindsay’s secret was literally killing her very existence down to how she lived her life. She couldn’t have a serious relationship, and I understood why. I read this story twice, and let me tell you there were times I wanted to stop because my heart was breaking, but I had a desire to find out what Lindsay was hiding. Even if I was spent emotionally, I couldn’t put aside the story. I craved it, desiring the soak up every emotion that encompassed Lindsay’s and Grady’s psyche.
This is one story that I would recommend to be placed on your TBR list. Please know that this is recommended for mature readers. I can’t wait to see more of Kirsten’s work. She is an author that is truly blossoming. What a talent she has to share with us lucky readers.
Kirsten DeMuzio lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband, two young daughters and happy golden retriever. After working for several years as an accountant and dreaming up story ideas while inputting data into a spreadsheet, Kirsten finally decided to actually write one. Four months later she self-published her debut novel, Safe With You. There are several more books planned in this series.
These are all books that spin off from Taryn & Wyatt’s story along with a Taryn & Wyatt #2. The reason Taryn & Wyatt #2 is farther out in the lineup is because of the storylines. I want to have their book set closer to the election, and a lot happens with the other characters during the time gap. Also, the characters do make appearances in other books, so Taryn & Wyatt are in Lindsay’s book and so on.
July 2013 – Just One Reason(Lindsay)
December 2013 – Ford (character from Lindsay’s story)
April 2014 – Lincoln (Taryn’s brother)
August 2014 – Taryn & Wyatt #2
December 2014 – Dominic
Kirsten, I am really excited that you have allowed me the chance to interview you as well. Your debut novel, Safe With You, was extremely enjoyable and hearing about Taryn and Wyatt’s story brought me to request an interview with the you. I know readers will enjoy getting to know more about you, Kirsten, as an author.
1.) What brought about your choice to write, Safe With You? Did you always have a dream to write? It was December 2012 when I decided to try writing a book. I was off work for two weeks after surgery, and I read a ton of books on my Nook. Several of them were by authors who self-published. Before this I had no idea you could do such a thing. After researching it, I decided to try it as well. I am always daydreaming, and I finally found a way to organize my thoughts and start writing.
2.) What do you enjoy doing in your leisure time? When I am not working or writing, I enjoy spending time with my family (husband, two daughters, one dog) and reading. My guilty pleasures are getting my nails done and napping (on very rare occasions).
3.) We know you are great at writing, but what are your other hobbies? My number one hobby is reading, and now that I am an author I can consider this research, right? J My busy life doesn’t allow much time for other hobbies, but someday I hope to have more time to devote to gardening and cooking.
4.) When you wrote, Safe With You, how did you get into your writing zone? For example, did you listen to music or was there another way that you used to keep motivated while writing? Because I am just starting out as an author, I still work full-time at my “day job”. Combined with having two children, this doesn’t leave much time for writing. So, when I find time to sit down to write, I have to be very productive. While going about my daily life – working, grocery shopping, driving my children to activities – I think about my story. I play out scenes in my mind like I’m watching a movie, so that when I do sit down to write, I am ready to put those scenes into the book.
5.) How did you develop the characters, Taryn and Wyatt and their story? Taryn and Wyatt changed quite a bit during the early days of writing Safe With You. I had a lot of ideas when I first started writing, and it took a while to fine tune the characters. The setting, Wyatt’s job, the plot details, even Wyatt’s name changed from what I originally started with. I just started writing a few scenes, not knowing if or how they would fit into the story, and just kept rewriting until I started to see in my mind how their story would play out. One of the first scenes I wrote didn’t make it into the final version, but I plan to rework it into my third book – it will fit much better into that story. Also, Wyatt’s last name was originally Tucker. Then, while writing Safe With You, I read Existence by Abbi Glines. One of the characters is named Wyatt Tucker. So, I changed his last name to Hunter. Really I was all over the place writing Safe With You, but I’m happy with how it eventually turned out.
6.) What is your writing routine? I have refined my routine a bit since writing Safe With You. Now, I start with the two main characters and a general idea of the plot and struggles they will face. I may have two or three key scenes in my head, and then I fill in around that. I find that if I give it time and think about the characters, ideas will pop into my mind. From there I can write a general outline and breakdown of what will happen in each chapter. I wrote Safe With You completely out of order, and I broke it into chapters later. With Lindsay’s story, I had an outline of each chapter, but I didn’t necessarily write them in order. Now that I am working on my third book, I am attempting to write in order from the beginning. We’ll see how that goes. J
7.) What is your favorite part of writing? My favorite part of writing is coming up with the storyline and writing the first draft. I also love choosing names for my main characters. My supporting characters’ names are fairly easy, but I spend a lot of time researching names for my hero and heroine. It’s kind of like picking out baby names – very exciting!
8.) What writers inspire you? Authors that began their careers by self-publishing are inspirations to me – Jamie McGuire, Colleen Hoover, Abbi Glines and SC Stephens top my list. Thoughtless by SC Stephens is one of my all time favorite books. She did a tremendous job capturing the emotions of the characters. After reading that book, I had to take a break from reading for a while just to give my mind and emotions a rest.
9.) What is the hardest thing about writing? The hardest thing for me is finding the time to write. I want to write all the time, but I have a lot of other things that usually take priority. Also, going back through the story and editing is hard for me. By that point, I am ready to be done with that book and move onto the next one, which is probably already rolling around in my mind.
10.) Can you tell us a little about Lindsay’s story? You saw a few hints into Lindsay’s story at the end of Safe With You. Lindsay is more dramatic than Taryn, and she has some secrets from her past that even Taryn doesn’t know. In Just One Reason, you will find out how Lindsay and Grady know each other as well as a look back at their past. Grady once saw a future with Lindsay, but they can’t get there if he doesn’t find out the secret she is holding.
11.) Can you give us a 140 TWEET description of your next book? Lindsay and Grady have a past. But will the secret Lindsay is keeping prevent them from having a future together?
12.) Can you give your readers a hint on what is in store in Taryn and Wyatt’s future? Taryn and Wyatt both make appearances in Just One Reason as well as the third and fourth books in the series – Ford (you will meet him in Just One Reason) and Lincoln (Taryn’s brother). To wrap up this series I plan to write another book for Taryn and Wyatt, possibly in Wyatt’s POV, that takes place during the months leading up to the election. Expect to see Wyatt dealing with issues from his past as well as new issues that arise in their relationship. But don’t worry – Taryn and Wyatt will get their ultimate happy ending. J
13.) Can you give your readers what a day in the life of Kirsten is like? For example, hobbies that you may have? A normal weekday for me involves working from 8:00-4:30, dinner with the family, getting the kids bathed and into bed, spending two hours writing, going to bed and reading for a bit before going to sleep. Get up in the morning and repeat. On the weekends, I spend more time with my family and usually sneak in a little more time to write as well.
